Scratching doesnt spread poison ivy. If it spreads beyond the original infection(s), it's because the oil has gone into your blood stream. The rubbing alcohol would definitely dry it up - but doesnt it HURT? As to the loofa, when the itching got unbearable, I fantasized about how a good strong wire brush would feel..... ;) just kidding!
