Hi Alan,

Yeah poison ivy is persistent - you have to get the roots up to prevent recurrence. You should be find with the vegetable plants. I would recommend though that you wash vegetables with soap and water if there is a chance of contact with poison ivy leaves / plants. I don't recommend you use any commercial chemical control product on the poison ivy if very near your vegetable garden. You don't want to either 1) kill the vegetable plants by overspray and 2) don't want to take a chance of contaminating the vegetable fruit.
