This is my first (and I pray to God, hopefully last!) bout with poison ivy. It became obvious that it wasn't a ton of mosquito bites on my ankles, shins and forearms, when the blisters started to appear over a two day period. I tried Calamine, hydrocortisone cream, etc...Rx antihistamine and was in pain, itching terribly, unable to sleep, and the doctor prescribed prednisone on Saturday night. I was still miserable on Monday, when I coincidentally had a scheduled dermatologist appt. The dermatologist said the steroid Rx wasn't a high enough dose. I started to be a lot better by Monday evening, with increased prednisone, in addition to the anitshistamine Rx, and a topical Rx that dramatically helped the blistered, swelling welts. BUT...over the past few days the bottom of my feet and my heels have started to burn and itch like the worst case of athlete's foot i ever had. I used a Tinactin type spray, thinking it was athlete's foot. It didn't help...it burned! I was putting wrap-around ice paks on my forearms and ankles and shins and changing the ice paks every 30 minutes. I thought that was causing the athlete's foot. (Must have been the sleep deprivation causing the imagination to soar!) Now I'm wondering if it's a non-blistered PI reaction, since I was scratching the bottoms of my feet thinking that was safe, since it wasn't blistered!
Does anyone have any suggestions of what to put on my feet to stop the INTENSE itching? (Note: Hot water burns like hell!) I tried Desitin (baby diaper cream....and IT burned!) I'm open to all suggestions!
