Thanks for answering the question as it triggered something in the deep recesses of my weird trivia holding mind :-). There are mentions on our Water-based home remedies page that the hot water does release histamines. Here's another page Andy Kerr - Poison Oak and Poison Ivy which also mentions that hot water causes the release of histamines. Here's a reference page which explains hives and the release of histamine is of course a factor in the redness you see (the rash / hives). |
