Hi Mrs. Grant -

Does the rash look like any of our rash pictures? Or like the allergic contact dermatitis rashes on other websites? The delay in rash could mean that it is urushiol oil induced rash. Contact with the oil does not mean that you have to have had contact with the plants. Many cases are caused by animals (oil on the fur), garden tools (oil on the implement), clothing (brushed or accidental contact with plant containing oil), etc. Contact with urushiol oil causes an allergic contact dermatitis. There are a number other chemicals which can cause a similar problem. You need to if at all possible determine what has caused the rash to prevent future outbreaks. Treatment for allergic contact dermatitis is the same regardless of what caused it.

You definitely don't want more itching. The problem with these types of rashes is that the treatment seems to vary from person to person. You might want to look at some of the other remedies to see if any make sense here.

If your husband find the condition unbearable or it is on a large portion of his body, he should go see a physician for treatment.
