Hi Janie -

Going to the doctor is a personal matter and I agree for those cases which are unbearable seeing a doctor may help. Personally, I never have gone and I just "gut it out". The American Academy of Dermatologists recommends seeing a doctor if the rash is on the face, private areas, or covers more than 30% of the body. For the rest of us, there are over-the-counter treatments that help alleviate the itch.
