Hi fellow rashers - I have a pretty good case of poison ivy and went to the doctor today. He wants to put me on Prednisone pills for 20 days! I didn't fill the prescription, but am wondering if I should. I am managing with the terrible itch by jumping into a very hot baking soda bath when it gets bad. This produces a sensation that is the greatest relief and the greatest agony all at once. It does keep things under control for a few hours. I'm also taking Benedryl and OTC creams. He prescribed heavy duty cream which I haven'T started using yet. I understand the fellow who says that taking Prednisone is self-defeating in a way. My question is basically this -- does it work and is it worth taking? I have a high school reunion in two weeks - will it help me clear up or will I start to bloat from water retention? Anyone who thinks Prednisone is good to use please respond.
