hi Dena,
I had a very bad case also, and I also get rashes which disappear
and change locations in the spring and summer. They started long after my worst case though and are not poison ivy like, no blisters, and not usually sustained the same way, ie: they come on worse at night usually, the actual rash, not just the itching.
So I don't think they are related. That's strange that yours may be poison ivy, is this what your doctor thinks? I don't think it's possible for PI to reappear so long after contact, so maybe your rash is due to something else or to new contact somehow?
I've heard that some people are so sensitive they can walk near PI and be affected if the oil is somehow airborne. Whether this is true or not, I don't know.
