I became infected with Poison Ivy in the middle of January by clearing out vines and roots in a rock garden.I have found relief from the itching by applying Essential Oil of Lavendar straight. Just apply it to a cotton ball and coat your rash with it. Don't put it near your eyes. It will instantly numb the area while acting as an antiseptic and helps to keep the skin soft which will prevent scarring.I use clean gauze to cover exposed areas on my wrists that are raw. I'm taking Ibuprofen every 6 hours for pain and inflammation and using ice packs for 20 minutes each hour to reduce swelling on my wrist and face. I take 2 Benadryl before bedtime to help me sleep and I fall asleep with my icepacks. Actually I'm doing quite well and after I washed everything including my computer area and telephone and lighter the rash stopped spreading. I'm in day 4...wish me luck.
