According to all the reading I've done recently, dogs are generally not allergic to the urushiol oil. However, my pug was carrying around a branch in her mouth and developed a blister that caused hair loss for about 2 weeks. I suspect that it was the poison oak exposure since my type of dog has sensitive skin.
Your best bet is to wash your dog with Tecnu. We used that on our dogs and the label states that it can be used on pets and humans. Supposedly safe.
Good luck!
