I am about halfway through a bout of poison oak. I've been using cortisone cream,
an antibiotic for a secondary infection on top of the rash on my face, and Benadry at night to sleep. This is my third poison oak experience and it is definitely the toughest. My husband is a great fan of aloe vera gel for skin irritations and so, yesterday, I took the plunge and switched from the sticky cortisone ointments to aloe vera. I am amazed. It is cooling, not sticky once it dries, and it switched off the itch!
Beyond that, I have seen significant shrinking of the blisters today and a cooling of my skin. The cooling is why I wrote in. Aloe vera is known for its use on burns.
Maybe its not surprising. Best wishes
