after growing up next to a heavily wooded area and never having a reaction, i always assumed i was immune to poison ivy. but a couple days ago after weeding my yard, i broke out in rashes and blisters on my hand and forearm.

for the first day or two, i didnt think it was actually poison ivy, thus i didnt take the necessary precautions. i used some gold-bond lotion to relieve the itching, and now i cant help but notice that most of my new blisters are forming around the perimeter of where i applied the lotion. after doing some research and talking to some people, i learned that the rashes are spread through contact with the oil and can't actually be transferred from place to place on the body. however, due to the distinct pattern of my blisters, i was wondering if its possible for a lotion to spread oil that i would think had already bonded with my skin. i didnt use the lotion until at least 12 hours after i came in contact with the plant, so i would think that would be enough time to eliminate the chance of me spreading the oil by touch.

am i just being paranoid or what?
