Question Asked: I am wondering if there is a Sumac that is poisonous & one that is not? We have a bunch of this in our back yard & was not sure if this was the poisonous one.
Answer: Caren and I have been conversing via email on this and another plant in her yard. The pictures that she's taken are terrific and show great detail. This sumac is a Smooth Sumac plant. Very similar looking to poison sumac but with 2 key differences - the toothed margins (edges) on the leaflets and the berry cluster at the end of a branch. |
